reading/watching/listening to

I realized today that I haven’t posted on the blog in weeks and weeks. This is my fun place and I think it shows in my creative work (and my spirit) when I’m not making space for joy and things that “don’t matter.”

Here’s what I’m reading/watching/listening to that’s bringing me joy as we head into fall.

Reading:

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou
This book needs a content warning but the writing is so beautiful. I could have read it in one sitting.

Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Deer
I reread this book and it was just as wonderful the second time around. It’s large and intertwines five different storylines around one Ancient Greek play.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Also a reread that was exceptionally satisfying. This book is full of tension and mystery and gosh, I just love it.

Watching:

-Justin and I just finished watching the first season of Alone with the three younger boys. We all loved it and can’t wait to start season two.
-Justin and I also watched season one of Stick and you don’t even need to love golf to enjoy it.
-These two episodes of NYT Cooking On the Job. One. Two

Listening:

The Life of a Show Girl album by Taylor Swift 10/10 no notes
The Art of Loving album by Olivia Dean
Any playlist with Jon Batiste and Leon Bridges
