art deadlines
After resolving to make more art in 2026, I looked at my most recent piece every day. It wasn’t perfect you know. I’m not well-trained but I have a good enough eye to know that my work could be better. I quickly realized that my good enough eye was going to prevent me from making more art in 2026 if I didn’t institute some deadlines. New rule: there’s a new piece every week. However good or bad, finished or unfinished, the piece is, it’s done at the end of the week and I start something new.

It reminded me of that story-you’ve heard it too-about the class of pottery students that was divided into two groups. One group tried to make one absolutely phenomenal pot. The other group was tasked with making as many pots as they could. In the end, the group that made the most pots also had the better pots.

Here’s to a stack of art and maybe better art. Either way-more art!

Practice makes perfect – so the saying goes.
