Summer projects
It is not quite summer yet, even by my own counting. The boys have two more weeks of school to finish before we move to a summer rhythm and the school calendar is the real marker for me. But I’ve already started gathering my summer projects.
1. #personalgradschool: Hebrew and Greek. Right now I am translating Ruth and 1 John one verse at a time and working with Biblingo about twenty minutes a day. I typically alternate languages, hitting each one about every other day.
2. New baking: baguettes. Today I am attempting my first try in order to get used to the process, but as I progress I will probably gather some equipment: a scale, a couche, a larger baking stone. I am using this recipe to begin.
3. Assigned reading: The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty and A Women’s History of the Christian Church. Perhaps summer is my time for church history? I read Church History in Plain Language last year.
I’ll do a lot of other stuff. I’ll work in my garden and berry patch. I’m growing more flowers. I’ll take my oldest to work at camp. We’ll hike and bike and read and practice music and hang out with friends. This list just helps me not forget my own growth over the summer.
Do you have a summer project?
