Delights 12: trees

This past weekend, I was zip-tying chicken wire to the fence around the front garden when I heard the birds, noticed the leaves rustling in the wind, and saw the light dancing through their movement. I looked up and realized I was sitting in a bowl. The blue sky was above me but all around were treetops towering over everything else. I took a short video which is nothing like the real thing but is still something.

I love trees. I love how differently the leaves can be shaped.  I love the sound the wind makes rustling their leaves. I love their shade in the summer. I love the dappled light thrown around the backyard as the sun pierces through their crowns. I love the gorgeous colors of the leaves in the fall. I love the slightly haunted outlines of the trees in the winter. I grew up in the woods and trees make me feel at home. Thank you God for trees, for their beauty, for what we learn from them.
