The life you’re given
Today, I have talked to two people about taking the life you have in hand. Sometimes (often?) life is not what you wanted or expected or wished for. Most of the time the reasons for that are completely outside of your control. You cannot change it or you would have already.
This is where you live the given life as Wendell Berry would say.
You might still work to change it. You should still feel your sad and disappointed and frustrated and maybe even angry feelings. You can talk to God about it every single day.
But it’s still your life. And you can offer it to God as worship. You can pray for Him to do something in those hard times that might not happen if you had gotten what you wanted when you wanted it.
This is the day. God will go with me. God will go with you, even somewhere you didn’t want to go.
What is God doing where you’re at? Where can you lament and pray for change? What beauty can you cultivate? What can you mourn? Who can you bless? What is God growing in you that you can help flourish?
